The man in the sketch, whom police said is a suspect, is described as being in his 30s or 40s, about 5-foot-10- inches tall and weighing about 225 pounds. A $10,000 award is being offered for information leading to the arrest of a suspect
What concerns, if any, do you have about threats of terrorism or
activities by doomsday groups? Do you believe that officials around the
world are adequately prepared to deal with any situations that might arise?
Do you think a terrorist incident was planned by Ressam and others in the
U.S.?

While I think that no major incidents will happen in connection with
Y2K celebrations here in the U.S., it is probably a good idea for all to
be vigilant.Suspicious activity should be reported. I am concerned by those
who think that a person's origins should not be considered in evaluating
a potential terrorism threat. After all, Dinesh Desousa in his book "The
End of Racism", stated it was OK to assume Blacks might be criminals because
many Blacks are arrested for crimes. Same logic applies here. Many terrorist
acts are committed by people of mid-eastern and Asian decent, therefore
Middle-easterners and Asians (including Desousa) deserve closer scrutiny.

I am worried that the two "terrorists" that were caught were a small part of a larger effort... the tip of the iceberg as it were. I hope I am wrong. Generally our worst fears are just that, the events we dread usually fall in the middle of the paranoid view and the Pollyanna view... lets hope nothing happens, but if it does, doesn't cause dramatic harm. Sometimes I am embarrassed to be human.
:-(
PS The narrow view is that it's all about differing interpretations
of the mass hallucination we all call God. Is it really? Yes and no. It's
really about political control of wealth and territory, put more simply,
it's control of resources. This hasn't changed since our human ancestors
fought over water holes and herds of herbivores. More complex, but it is
the same game.

The comments of the first channel of German state television yesterday were just what the international bankers (masonary) ordered the the western media to "comment" about the elections in Russia : a criminal was supported by the majority of the electors, Vladimir Putin should be taken to The Hague.
This confirms once again that the masons (international bankers) have
already decided they can't wait any longer, so they
will have to use the Y2K coverup to launch the nuclear strike against Russia.

When 13 year olds can easily obtain guns and ammunition, I do not see
why terrorists would need to smuggle such items into the United States.
It was reported that the man arrested held a Canadian passport. Guess which
agency was the the last to use fake Canadian passports on atleast two accounts
- the Mossad. Once in the recent fiasco in Switzerland and the other whilst
attempting to assasinate Khaled Meshal. As for American profiling of Arabs,
the picture that CNN provided could have been any John Smith.

Mat,
Your weblink doesn't work. So what other conspiracy theories do you subscribe to?

Surely this couldn't be a coincidence?

I've just got to wonder what happens to conspiracy theorists when time and time again are shown their visions are delusional? Sure, they cook up new ones, or claim that since they were on to them, they changed their plans.
Here is the real conspiracy: All the conspiracy theories are really cooked up by the shadow governments to mask the real conspiracy... aliens are running the U.N!
;-) Lighten up fellas.

I see people here view Muslims as a whole as using violence to drive
home a message. As in any community there are also people who belong to
this category. Take for example the KKK and the like. Agreed currently
there have been a lot of cases involving so called muslims. But take a
look at the current situation. No muslim would ever choose the month of
Ramadan or for that matter any time of the year to kill innocent people
or destroy public property. To regard the action of a single person or
a small group as being part of the entire community is totally ridiculous.
Such people will use the name of religion so that they get noticed. Anyway
I cannot change the opinion of people but I will try to correct the misconceptions.
So here's wishing you people a merry Christmas and an enjoyable New year
celebration Peace

No matter how diligent our police and border patrol, a dedicated group of terrorists can easily infiltrate this country (and probably already has).
Do not ask me to sacrifice my family by attending some mass event just to prove I am not afraid of terrorists. I am. I will be prudent.
We live in the DC metro area. I consider DC the primary target of several international as well as domestic terror groups. The only question is HOW MANY groups will strike DC on 31 Dec.
My family and I will be in a cottage on a working farm west of the first mountain range from DC on New Year's weekend. I hope and pray that nothing happens but it is just too tempting of a target and timing for too many crazies.
Even if 3 or four cities are struck and even if DC gets hit with a suitcase nuke, the US and our system will survive. Our capitol will probably move inland, say to the Ozarks in Missouri. We will have lost the current president who is hosting a party the night of 31 Dec in DC. But that's no great loss and the Veep or one of the 14 others in the chain of succession will survive and restore our government.
We will probably bomb Afghanistan back to the stone ages their people are already living in. And then we will crawl back inside our borders and become totally self-focussed. It will be up to the rest of the world to police itself and the potential troublemakers.
Great powers never last forever. Perhaps it will be best that our reign
as the world's leader will have been so relatively short.

Dear Arif,
Thank you for your heartfelt post... you are right about each and every "group" having its violent element. I mean the "peace loving" Hindus blow each other up. We Americans have been terrorists on our own land, just ask any American Indian. Our government likes to have the populace believe the United States always wears a white hat, the reality is otherwise.
The stereotype we westerners have of Arabs as the quintessential terrorists is borne out of pathetic Hollywood typecasting. There is nothing in the short term that can be done about that, I just hope nothing happens to reinforce this stereotype. I hope collectively as a species, humanity can survive this period of brash immaturity.

PS To Wyn Wagan -- Suitcase Nuke? You've been reading too many Clancy
